International certification guarantees Atea customers improved data security

Customers of IT supplier Atea can now rest even more assured that their information is handled and protected in accordance with the highest security standards.

Atea can present an ISO 27001 certification after having completed audit performed by the internationally acclaimed certification company Bureau Veritas over the past months.

“We have great ambitions regarding our ISO 27001 certification. It is far more than just a fancy certificate; it is part of a larger behavioral change in our organization. We have taken the necessary time to complete the project, making sure that it is properly anchored in the organization. This is the reason why we can now set the bar extremely high, look our customers in the eye and with peace of mind ensure them that we have all security aspects under control,” says Peter Forsting, SVP at Atea Operations & Services.

ISO 27001 is an international security standard that all Danish governmental institutions have been obliged to follow since 2014. The standard indicates that an organization follows best practices within data protection, backed by an unaffiliated expert’s audit, in this case Bureau Veritas.

The customer’s security is of the utmost importance to Atea and therefore it is only natural that the company is now certified after highest standards. Atea has recently been chosen as supplier on the public framework agreement SKI 02.22 covering operations and outsourcing, and here ISO 27001 is an extra seal of approval to public customers.

Ambitious objective to protect clients

Atea experiences an increased interest from costumers who wish to comply with ISO 27001, and Atea can now accommodate that by ensuring a unified security level. To Atea, it has been of pivotal importance to integrate the ISO 27001 certification throughout Atea’s Operations & Services organization to ensure and extend the high level of security.

Certified within a range of areas

Almost a year ago, Atea received the highest international anti-corruption certification, ISO 37001, as the first company in Denmark. ISO 27001 is a natural continuation of the many compliance efforts the company has set in motion regarding procedures, policies and processes at all layers of the organization. Atea also holds an ISO 9001 certification within quality management and an ISO 14001 certification in environmental management.

Atea is to be audited annually and recertified in three years to uphold the ISO 27001 security certification.
