Microsoft announced during inspire the launch of the Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty, a new solution for public sector customers, who need to be able to guarantee that their users’ data is stored and processed in a given region a services aimed for the European market in regards to GDPR and SCHREMS II.
“Today, public sector customers can harness the full power of Microsoft Cloud, including broad platform capabilities, resiliency, agility and security,” the company explains in today’s announcement. “With the addition of Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty, they will have greater control over their data and increased transparency to the operational and governance processes of the cloud.”

With this new functionality customers are able to run and workload in more than 60 data center regions and select residency options for all of these to meet the local regulatory requirements. This also includes a new Sovereign Landing Zone within the Landing Zone architecture from Microsoft (Iac – Infrastructure as code). Atea is able to deliver this to our customers to help them increase security and localization of their data.
